Do you wonder what your interior designers home looks like? For the first time Jodie’s home is now ready to share with you.
Featured in Octobers issue of Country Style Magazine, you can read all about the home, alongside the story behind its transformation after the tragic loss of Jodie’s 12-year-old son, Hamish to suicide in December, 2022. Perched on the end of a peninsular, it is a special haven for Jodie and her two daughters who live here.
Fondly nicknamed the Museum by The JCD team because of Jodie’s maximalist approach to decorating and her huge collection of vintage and antique furniture, curios, taxidermy and artwork. This one is worth exploring a bit further.
Jodie initially envisaged a top-to-bottom renovation for this property. However, a family tragedy derailed her vision. “I did have great plans for it, but my 12-year-old son, Hamish sadly passed away in December 2022 after enduring many years of bullying and mental health illness”, she says. “We were thrown into turmoil for a few years and just wanted to run away." After nearly selling the home (which you can read about in our story in Country Style Magazine's October 2026 issue) the family decided to stay and make peace with the home and their lives Once we made that decision I embraced the home and it ended up being the best thing we could have done as I threw myself into decorating and layering with my collections.
“After Hamish died I felt like I couldn’t live my life again until I was living somewhere else”, she explains. “I’d always wanted to live in the country so that’s what I was going to do. I had a massive list of all the things I wanted in my country house but then I realised I already had all those things here- the French doors and high ceilings, a library, beautiful views and a tree lined driveway. So, I decided we were going to have our own country house right here. I still dream about a move, and I absolutely will get to the country one day. For now we have Hamish's blessing to stay here, and we feel at peace with our decision. We can embrace memories of Hamish and heal. I’m still getting used to saying there are three of us living here. But I know he’s with us – we feel his presence all the time.”
Arrange a consult
Before any project begins, I like to spend time in the space with you.
We walk through your home together room by room, talking through what’s working, what isn’t, and how the home could function and feel differently.
Often, the best ideas come from these early conversations.
The consultation is collaborative, practical, and full of useful direction from the outset.
