Located in the heart of Coogee in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, this family home was designed to balance coastal sophistication with everyday practicality.
The brief called for interiors that felt calm, light-filled, and welcoming, while still reflecting the clients’ individual way of living. For us, as interior designers, our approach is centered on creating spaces that feel connected to their surroundings without becoming overly themed or expected.
Soft colours, VJ panelling, natural textures, and lighter finishes were layered throughout to create an atmosphere that feels relaxed, but still considered. The interiors reflect the clients themselves — stylish, understated, and entirely comfortable within the space.
One of the defining changes involved restoring the original hardwood flooring and staircase.
The darker finish was sanded back and lightened to create a softer coastal tone, allowing the entire home to feel brighter and more cohesive. This became a key element in tying together both the architectural framework and the newer additions throughout the renovation.
Layout, storage, and practical detailing were considered alongside the visual direction, ensuring the interiors feel effortless to live in while maintaining a strong sense of character.
This approachable home reflects both its beachside location and the personality of the family within it.
Arrange a consult
Before any project begins, I like to spend time in the space with you.
We walk through your home together room by room, talking through what’s working, what isn’t, and how the home could function and feel differently.
Often, the best ideas come from these early conversations.
The consultation is collaborative, practical, and full of useful direction from the outset.
